CHNC challenge 3: let's see some trees

Challenge 3: let's see some trees

Thank you for the super cards for challenge 2 - 24 lovely entries - you certainly all used your freebies and recycled elements to good effect. You might find that you can use some for today's challenge too. The main thing is: please don't put that Christmas stash away, but keep using it week by week to build up a good collection of Christmas cards so that there isn't a panic later in the year - you know it makes sense.

This week for challenge 3 I'd like to see some trees - decorated Christmas trees - indoors or outside - bare winter trees, snowy trees, whatever. They can be stamped, a digi, embossed, painted ... use whatever medium you like ... or find a freebie or recycled element that features a tree.

Here is my card for this challenge - papers are Websters and BG jovial. I covered a piece of chipboard with blue and green acrylic paint and then used white acrylic paint with my Inkaddinkadoo trees stamp, adding some white at the base of the trees. I used acrylic paint because that's the topic for this week's challenge on Jingle Belles and I'm trying to support them as they are also a new Christmas crafting blog (further details about the card can be seen here on My Crafty Outlook (my regular crafting blog):

I look forward to seeing what you come up with for this challenge - add a link to your blog post (not your blog, but the actual post where your card can be found) by 22:00 UK time Friday 21 January. Please mention my blog and create a link within the post for your creation.

Remember, you can use any materials, any techniques, as long as the end result is a Christmas card.

And you can enter as many times as you wish and also link to any other challenges that allow you to do so, but new work only, please.

A new challenge will be set on 22 January. If by any chance Linky disappears, please leave a comment with the link to your blog post and I will make sure it is added.

If you haven't done so already, please become a follower and grab my bright pink button to post on your sidebar and help continue to spread the word about this new challenge blog - thank you.

I look forward to seeing your creations.

Using a freebie image for challenge 2

This is another card for my CHNC challenge 2, using a freebie image from Art Freebies. You can see more about the card here on My Crafty Outlook.

To enter a card for my challenge 2 please scroll down or look here - the challenge closes tomorrow evening, Friday 14 January, at 22:00 UK time - you've still got time to make a card and link. If you can't think of any freebie or recycled element to use, you could always take a look on Art Freebies - plenty of choice.

Four waterfall cards for challenge 2

I've shown four waterfall cards on My Crafty Outlook - you can find out more here and see how they have also linked to other challenges - I try to support other Christmas card challenge blogs as much as possible and would encourage you to do the same. The components for the waterfall cards were made from freebies received with magazines.

Don't forget, there's still time to enter my challenge 2 until 22:00 UK time Friday 14 January - just scroll down or click here to take you there.

Two more cards for challenge 2

These were very quick to make - recycled cards and BG eskimo kisses paper. If you have a look here on 'My Crafty Outlook' (my regular blog) you'll see why I make some of these quick and easy cards.

If you haven't yet made a card for challenge 2, why not have a look through the cards you received at Christmas and recycle something.

CHNC Challenge 2: freebie or recycled

Welcome to my Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge blog

Challenge 2: Use a freebie or recycle

Thank you so much for all the wonderful entries for Challenge 1 - 52 super creations - such a good start to this challenge blog. I hope you will return for this challenge and that others will join in too.

Big apologies that Linky closed earlier than expected - I can't explain this, so I suppose it must have been operator error! It seemed to be set for the right time and I've checked the time zone, but I must have done something wrong. I tried to change it, but couldn't.

Before I tell you about today's challenge, I'll announce the winner of the two Dovecraft card packs. I used random.org to randomly determine the winner:

No. 28 is:

This is her lovely card:

Please contact me at: hazelharris@ntlworld.com with your details so that I can post the cards to you.

I hope you still have your Christmas stash available - please don't put it away this year - get a head start for later in the year and keep a New Year's Resolution to make Christmas cards throughout the year - you know it makes sense!

For challenge 2 I'd like you to use something that you received as a freebie - it could be something that came free with a magazine, a free digi download, a swap from a crafting friend - or something that is recycled - perhaps something from a card you received or wrapping paper or pieces rescued from Christmas crackers ... it can be anything capable of being recycled.

You can use any materials, any techniques, as long as the end result is a Christmas card.

And you can enter as many times as you wish and also link to any other challenges that allow you to do so, but new work only, please.

This is my card for this challenge - I used Bo Bunny 'believe' papers and tag that were free with Scrapbook magazine (further details can be seen here on My Crafty Outlook (my regular crafting blog):

I'd love you to join in by making a Christmas card - remember to use a freebie or something recycled - and add a link to your blog post (not your blog, but the actual post where your card can be found) by 22:00 UK time Friday 14 January. Please mention my blog and create a link within the post for your creation.

A new challenge will be set on 15 January.
